The concept of a video date is probably not something you’d thought about until recently. Dating in 2020 has changed significantly due to Covid-19 and whilst a lot of us have been able to adapt to dating whilst we are either in lockdown or in our appropriate tier, we have had requests to share some ideas on how to improve dates with the current restrictions. Therefore, at Just Senior Singles, we have compiled some ideas on how to make your dates more fun and we ask you to share some of your dating ideas to help people who might be struggling to think of some themselves.

1. Introducing Games

Now there is nothing wrong with simply having a good chinwag. This is the foundation of a good date, being able to talk openly and honestly to one another will provide each of you with enough information to know whether or not you want to go on another date. However, if you do want to mix things up a bit why not play a fun game and introduce a little competition to the date. We aren’t suggesting you break out the monopoly board but perhaps a fun quiz or a trivia game, something that’s light-hearted. Or if you really want to make an effort you could create a quiz all about you and offer multiple choice answers and that way they are learning about you at the same time.

2. Create a restaurant environment

Making an effort will go a long way with your date and if you create a similar environment to that of a nice restaurant they will immediately be impressed. As well as that it’s also a nice ice breaker as it will be a talking point as soon as the date starts. Light a candle, pour yourself a glass of wine and wear something nice, maybe even some light music in the background. Again, it’s just a bit of fun and also will create much more of a ‘date’ atmosphere for you both.

3. Watch a movie together

Perhaps one for texting rather than on video as there will be a lot of time in which you won’t be talking, and you don’t want to feel awkward. On your third or fourth date see if the other person wants to watch a movie with you at the same time and text each other throughout with your reactions. I have personally done this before and have really enjoyed the experience. A scary movie works particularly well as you’ll both message each other at the exact same time when something scary makes you jump.
